Research Associate (50%) in the Philosophy of Mind and Cognition Research Group

The Philosophy of Mind and Cognition research group (Prof. Dr. Sven Walter) of the Institute of Cognitive Science invites applications for the position of a

Research Associate
(Salary level E 13 TV-L, 50 %)

to be filled by October 1, 2017 for a period of 3 years.

Description of Responsibilities:
The position involves participation in the research activities of the Philosophy of Mind and Cognition group. Our main research topics are

• philosophical and empirical approaches to free will and moral responsibility
• situated approaches to cognition: embodied, embedded, extended and enacted
• philosophy of emotions
• experimental philosophy

The position includes teaching Cognitive Science courses at B.Sc. and M.Sc. level (2 hours/week). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work towards a PhD.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants are expected to have an excellent academic degree (Master/Diploma), in philosophy, a good command of the English language and experience in at least one of the domains listed above, and they should be willing to work on a dissertation topic that fits one of them, preferably related to free will and/or moral responsibility.
